Feeling seen, as they say, in St Christopher's Place this morning. #overthinking #londonlife #londonmoment

Wow. Just wow... All the accolades @candygourlay's WILD SONG has received are so well deserved.

It was distinctly bracing in Brighton on Tuesday and even the locals were looking a little ruffled. @janpimblett and I took a turn up and down the pier, but spent most of our day at the seaside over warming cups of tea in the Walrus Inn.

Insomnia put paid to writing and creative thinking this week so I've been bingeing thrillers.

This week's London Loop walk took us to the official start of the route at Erith. Huge skies, reed beds, and bird life on the Thames, the Darent, and the Cray.

Some recent reads.

Last weekend was a binge reading weekend. First Ben MacIntyre's compulsive The Spy and the Traitor: an extraordinary story brilliantly told: I'm so impressed at how he manages to give historical material all the page turning tension of the best thriller. Also, so fascinating to get this glimpse into what was happening behind the scenes of the news when I was young!

So excited to receive this from the wonderful @candygourlay - I've had the great joy & privilege of sharing conversations and writing sessions with her on this journey and it's such a delight to be holding a copy of #wildsong.

Signs of spring on this week's London loop walk from Banstead to Malden Manor. A path through woods. Catkins, magnolia buds, crocuses, snowdrops. A robin in the woods near the site of Nonsuch Palace and a couple of magpies apparently waiting for the same train as us.
